Getting to Saariselkä!

You can come to Saariselkä by car, bus, train or plane. You can take the train all the way to Rovaniemi, from which you can continue by bus to Saariselkä. Flights land at Ivalo Airport, from which it is only a half-hour journey to your destination by airport bus or taxi. The flight time to Helsinki takes around 1½ hours.

Flying to Saariselkä

Finnair operates a daily flight service between Helsinki and Ivalo. During the winter season, there

are often a number of flights a day. Blue1 flies between Ivalo and Helsinki three times a week during 10 February – 19 April. Bus services to and from Ivalo Airport

After the flight you can easily travel from Ivalo Airport to Saariselkä using the Airport Bus. There is a bus connection to and from every Blue1 or Finnair flight. The buses leave after luggage check-in. The buses for departing flights leave Saariselkä 1 hour 45 minutes before the scheduled flight departure time. By rail to Rovaniemi

The best connection to Saariselkä by rail is with a connection from Rovaniemi Railway Station.

The VR State Railway trains operate a number of services between Helsinki and Rovaniemi every day. You can easily reach Saariselkä from Rovaniemi by bus, as there is a direct bus connection for each train arrival. On a car train you can put your own car on the train and drive it 260 km from Rovaniemi to Saariselkä.

By bus to Saariselkä

A trip to Saariselkä by bus is easy as there are a number of services running via Oulu

and Rovaniemi from all over the country, also from for instance Helsinki-Vantaa Airport and ferry terminals. Take a look at more detailed bus timetables at
Winter visitors will find the easiest way of getting around in Saariselkä is by using the SkiBus that runs direct to the centre of the Saariselkä ski resort. The link below shows the SkiBus timetable for this winter.

By car to Saariselkä

You can also reach Saariselkä using your own car. It’s not difficult to find Saariselkä as it is located by the E4 road.
